Harjot Kaur, MA, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
My priority as your therapist is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable to share your journey with me. I want to emphasize the importance of keeping an open dialogue and letting me know that you may not be ready for specific pieces of the puzzle. Sometimes it may feel that you are ready to speak about your experiences and as you are expressing your story you may notice feeling unsafe and discomfort. It is safe for you to tell me you would like to stop and go to a piece that feels safe. I am here to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for you to share and work towards your goals at a pace that fits you. As your therapist, I will support you in questioning, growing, and challenging yourself as you heal and find meaningful change.
I work with adults 18+ from an integrative and collaborative approach which means I draw from multiple approaches that fit your individual needs and work as a team to find what works best for you. Also, I draw from a culturally sensitive approach that helps me support individuals from various backgrounds. I am dedicated to being inclusive of the BIPOC and immigrant communities. The modalities I work from primarily are Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive (OCD), coping skills, burnout, emotion regulation, family conflict, peer relationships, self-esteem, boundaries, stress management, life transitions, grief, and racial identity.
I am a registered psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University and a Bachelor's Degree of Honours in Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. It takes courage to seek support and my goal as your therapist is for you to feel supported, understood, and safe.
