Alexia Quraeshi, MA, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), she/her
It can be hard to feel safe in a world that is constantly changing and when we are trying to understand how to cope with everyday challenges. In session, my role is to help you understand your nervous system, patterns and work with you to help build better coping skills and develop more self awareness. Throughout my life, I've noticed how the world is not always built with everyone in mind. I have experience working with people who are neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, struggling with health issues etc. My goal is to provide you with a comfortable and safe space where you can be your authentic self and talk about the challenges and hardships you face so you can become more aware of your values, patterns and stressors.
The main tools I use come from person centered therapy and Acceptance Commitment therapy (ACT). I believe that you as the client are the expert in your own experience and it is my job to help integrate strategies that will work for you and give you new perspectives. I also use techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Regardless of what tools are used, I will make sure to check in with you to see how I can tailor my approach to your needs and how evidence based practices can support you best.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, autism, self esteem, trauma/trauma recovery, stress, burnout, chronic pain, LGBTQIA+ issues and establishing healthy relationships with others.
I am a registered psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have a Masters or Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
I encourage you to reach out to see if we are a good fit and I look forward to working with you.
